Insight into External Wall Insulation's

What is external wall insulation?

External wall insulation is a type of insulation that is secured to the outside of your walls. Two layers of material are used, one to provide insulation, and another of mineral or synthetic render to protect from the weather and also provide the finishing look of your homes.

How much heat is saved?

We measure how much heat is saved via the use of the U- value, it measures how useful a material is as an insulator. The lower the U-value the better insulator the material is. Therefore lower U-values tell us that more heat is saved.

The insulation properties of an External Wall Insulation is influenced by,

  • The material used
  • The thickness of the insulation used
  • The thickness of your current walls

How does it help with damp?

Exterior wall insulation's help decrease the amount of condensation taking place and shuts out any damp from taking place. Thus reducing problems with rust and decay also.

How long does it take to install?

For the average house it can take up to 5-7 days, the days decrease and increase depending the size of the Installation.

The Benefits of exterior wall insulation:

The are many advantages to exterior wall insulation here's a list to name a few.

  • Avoids cold bridging.
  • Will prevent you to lose valuable floor space internally.
  • Allows the thermal mass of the walls work as a heat sync.
  • Allows your home to look new again from the outside.
  • Reduces any future external redecoration costs.
  • Increases the thermal efficiency of your home drastically.
  • Reduces noise pollution from outside of the house i.e, noise from traffic.
