How to install Celotex insulation boards

What are Celotex insulation boards?

The Celotex boards are a rigid foam insulation. Yellow in colour with a foil facing to each side. The Celotex insulated plasterboard come with a foil layer between the plasterboard and insulation. The insulated plasterboard also come with a tapered edge to allow for a quicker solution to the finishing enabling a tape and joint system to be used instead of traditional plastering. When comparing Celotex boards to wool insulation, they tend to have much better heat retention properties; in comparison you have to use twice as much wool to reach the same levels of energy efficiency as the Celotex board.

Where can Install Celotex Boards?

A Celotex board is a compact material with insulation properties, which can be added to your roof, walls, ceilings or floor to help improve the energy efficiency of your property. The boards come in different thicknesses, and naturally when it comes to insulation, the thicker you go for, the more energy efficient it is.

How do I measure and cut them?

You will need to make sure that when you cut the material that it fits tightly. Make sure to have Protective gear at hand as they're needed. You can use multiple cutting tools from a knife, a hand saw or equipping yourself with a rigid board cutter. The best option out of the three would be using a handsaw.

Measuring it is absolutely key and getting it right first time is important as you don’t want to be throwing materials away.

If you're able, get help from a specialist, it's always the right move.

What thickness of boards are available

Celotex boards are sold with different thicknesses. They start at 20mm and go up in 10-15mm, up to 200mm.
